This is the first post on the Blabberize blog.

What is Blabberize?

Blabberize is a site that makes pictures talk. The wider use of blabberize is a tool for educators to allow students to understand, express, and produce content based on concepts and ideas that are presented in a classroom environment.

What’s the vision for Blabberize?

Blabberize was created as a tool for telling stories. Behind the scenes we have been working on meaningful ways to quickly create animation to express the stories we want to tell. The site as it exists is the simplest form of this vision.

What’s Blabberize EDU?

As we built blabberize we found there was a need for educators to easily allow their students to create content with mixed media. The follow up issues to this was managing the content that the students created. This led to the creation of Blabberize EDU which allows teachers to manage student creations in a safe environment.

Privacy and Blabberize EDU

The blabberize.com website was created with the idea that a single user could either create a public creation or a private creation that they could share with individuals via a link. This simplistic privacy model fell apart when a teacher wanted their students to create on blabberize and then share with their fellow students.

Blabberize was supported before Blabberize EDU solely on advertising. As time has gone on the detrimental nature of targeted ads have created a problem where children’s privacy needed to be protected and not be exposed to targeted advertising. For this reason Blabberize EDU is a subscription only model where educators can pay for access and are given a playground where student data is protected.

As more industries and education governing bodies understand the threat (and in some cases legal requirement) to keep students from being exposed to online advertising harvesting user data - the use of Blabberize EDU becomes the defacto way to use Blabberize in educational settings.

We work very hard to keep the cost of Blabberize EDU low enough that the site can remain accessible and allow us to maintain it.
