Blabberize Downtime
Oye, so if you didn’t notice. Blabberize was first slow… and then inaccessible today for about 12 hours. So we call our host, aplus.net, and they had a phone message up explaining they had some issues going on at their Pheonix data center. I got through fairly quickly to a person and he forwarded me an email they were sending out to all users in that data center (no clue why I didn’t receive it). Here’s the email they sent us:
Valued Aplus.Net Client,
As you may be aware, we have been experiencing severe packet
loss in our PHX-1 data center in Phoenix, where you have one
or more servers. Regrettably, the situation continues to
worsen despite round-the-clock efforts by our engineers as
well as those from our providers. As a result, we are
taking the steps to begin moving clients into our new
state-of-the-art datacenter in Phoenix, located less than 5
miles from our PHX-1 data center. We will commence moving
clients at 10:00 am Central time on Saturday, December 1.

Blabberize Quickie Walk-through
Quick video just doing a high level walk through of blabberize using the microphone. It’s actually easier to record with the Call in Audio. Let us know if this is helpful. This was Mallory’s idea and if you find it useful we’ll go into more in-depth topics with some better visuals. Perhaps Mallory will help out too *laugh*.

Happy Thanksgiving!
So many Blabbers! So many laughs.
This is our first thanksgiving with Blabberize and I can say for sure it’s the best one Ever. When we started making blabberize we had a vague idea of the sort of blabbers we’d see. But I don’t think either of us (Alex or I) really knew how much laughter blabberize would bring us. It makes the hardwork all worthwhile. Thank you!
Enjoy Food! Enjoy Family! And Happy Thanksgiving!

Blabberize Call in Audio powered by VoodooVox!
AHHHH!!! IT’S UP! You no longer need a microphone to use the site! You can use your phone! How hardcore is that?
Scott Hamilton, CEO of VoodooVox called me up awhile back and we ended up having a conversation about a partnership that had the potential of solving our biggest problem:
A lot of people do not have microphones!
A short bit later we set up Blabberize and VoodooVox to work together. Now you can call in the audio for your Blabbers… FOR FREE and have it show up right away! It’s fantastic, I’m super excited. I’m also super tired, because I’ve been working non-stop all weekend and the week before that. *laugh* But I feel oh so good right now. Test it out, and let me know what you think. Or even post a link to your blabber here in the comments. I’d love to see what you guys do.

Thanks to Don and Nick, and of course Scott, for helping us get everything working.

Sweet walk through
Written By Julie Wittmann
A really well written walk through of how to create a blabber. I enjoyed reading it. It’s always nice to see really well written stuff about something you’ve made. : )

The Conversations Behind the Scenes.
Mo: There was an alpaca I saw everyday on the way to school on geddes
Alex: Like . . . romantically?
Mo: I had no idea alpacas were going to have such an involvement in my life.
Mo: No… although what I said right after you said that makes it seem so.
Alex: Exactly.
Alex: Maybe we should have a 900 number.
Alex: Where you can also talk to the alpaca.
Alex: For $9.95 a minute.
For those wondering, most of our conversations are like this. I guess it makes sense considering the site we’ve developed.

More traffic!!!
We’ve already surpassed yesterday’s traffic numbers and it’s only 4pm! How crazy is that?!

What’s it like to get TechCrunched?
Zomg it’s the crazyness. Our server was begging for mercy. As time went on after our first initial burst of traffic from lifehacker and photojojo when we launched, Alex and I became more and more curious about what our users were doing. We had a pretty steady flow of traffic so we implemented A LOT of invisible little hooks that would store information in our database about what, you, our ever amazing and slick users were up to. This included information from our embeded blabbers. This morning when Techcruch AND Chris Pirillo’s blog hit us we were flooded with data, so much that our database server just passed out from the torrent of information. We restarted the server and the load spiked again. Finally we figured out what was going on 12 hours later after struggling to get access to our own server in midst of the traffic and turned off the data logging which finally brough everything under control. If you’re curious to see the blabber’s that started it all, check out Chris’s blabbers:
